“I don’t even know where to begin with this. He is so appreciative of attention and love. With his background, you would think he had some kind of baggage, but he is just happy to be around people and experience new things. The first day we let him come up on the bed, you could tell he was in heaven lol. We have included him in our night time& morning routine. Our dogs don’t sleep with us through the night, but every evening Leonard and our other two lay in the bed and chew on their chew toys while we read and watch TV. Then we take them out for a final bathroom and put them in their spaces. First thing in the morning, my husband takes them out and then they run into the bedroom and jump up on the bed and have their morning snuggles, pets and chew time and usually fall back to sleep. I think it’s such a good comforting thing for him to experience a calm and peaceful start and end to his day so that he knows he’s in a stable place and he’s loved.”

Story
Please welcome Leonard to the available page! This handsome one-year-old brown and tan fluffy gentleman was surrendered to FBRN after being bounced around to a pet store and another rescue.
While with FBRN, he’s been soaking up the good life—and digesting it, slowly. You see, Leonard has chronic colitis, which means he’s a bit… ahem… delicate in the GI department. But don’t worry! With a stress-free environment, the right diet (Honest Kitchen raw base + home-cooked chicken = chef’s kiss), and some simple supplements, he’s a happy, healthy little guy. Just be prepared to help him keep his behind clean during the occasional flare-up. Glamorous? No. Worth it? Absolutely.
Leonard’s energy level is low, but his curiosity is sky-high. A short walk? Yes, please. A new chew toy? Intriguing. A car ride to anywhere? Don’t threaten him with a good time. While he enjoys a daily walk, he’s equally content to nap on your lap.
Leonard has been known to wrestle with his canine foster siblings, but he’s a little too rough-and-tumble at this stage to be plopped into a multi-dog household. He’s working on his social skills and needs a family that can guide him with patience, training, and loads of love. And as for kids—he’s sweet, but mouthy, so he’d do best in an adults-only home or one with teens who understand that love bites aren’t quite as cute when delivered by a 28-pound bowling ball. Potty training is a work in progress, but he’s making great strides (and great use of pee pads).
His foster mom has this to say about Leonard, “I don’t even know where to begin with this. He is so appreciative of attention and love. With his background, you would think he had some kind of baggage, but he is just happy to be around people and experience new things. The first day we let him come up on the bed, you could tell he was in heaven lol. We have included him in our night time& morning routine. I think it’s such a good comforting thing for him to experience a calm and peaceful start and end to his day so that he knows he’s in a stable place and he’s loved.”
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. At 28 pounds, Leonard is too large to fly, so please be prepared to roadtrip if chosen.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
