“Libby has a big personality and a big heart. She is extremely affectionate and loves to snuggle – when she’s not going 110 mph! She needs a family who will be there for her as she figures out all of the exciting things in the world. Have fantasies of posting videos of your dog riding the Roomba around? Forget it! Libby detests all things related to housework – sweeping, vacuuming, leaf blowing, even hair dryers are merely excuses to show off that tenacious bulldog personality! In all seriousness, her new owner needs to be calm, enthusiastic, and patient, someone who can laugh while at the same time shaking their head at the latest thing she’s gotten into or finds way more interesting than it would seem to be. Looking for a dog who will energize and exhaust you all at the same time, in a cute and compact package? Libby might be just the one!”

Story
Hold your horses, little Libby is ready to find her forever home! Libby was surrendered to FBRN at 4 months old after her owner suffered a medical issue and could no longer care for her. Thankfully, Libby has no known health concerns though she does take a daily probiotic which her forever family should be prepared to continue.
Libby is a very typical puppy. She has LOTS of energy and is enthusiastic about overall life. Libby is curious about her surroundings and likes to be involved in her environment. Her enthusiasm results in lots of jumping and may be overwhelming for small children. Her favorite thing to do is play. She absolutely loves squeaky stuffies and chew toys (though in Libby’s mind, many things can be chew toys).
Libby’s ideal family would not be complete without another dog in the home. She gets along very well with the dogs in her foster home. While on walks, Libby is very excited to see other dogs though she doesn’t yet know how to approach them appropriately. Libby’s family will need to commit to slow introductions with their resident dogs and continued behavior training for this exuberant girl. She has no history of aggression or biting but Libby does have a dominant personality and is very excitable at mealtimes.
Libby has been quite the challenge when it comes to potty training. Her forever family will need to be very consistent and very patient. Libby is not shy about having accidents in her crate and has a tendency to quickly eat her own feces. Libby’s forever family must have prior dog experience given her personality and training needs. A quieter home would ideal because a home with lots of noise and chaos would create an overstimulating environment for Libby. She is very interested in cats. Perhaps too interested, and for the safety of our feline friends, there shouldn’t be cats in her forever home. Libby absolutely needs to live with another dog! A more laid back companion would be ideal given Libby’s dominant personality. An older dog may find Libby’s undying energy taxing so it would be best if she had a younger canine companion in her forever home.
Speaking of energy, Libby will need plenty of exercise. She would do fine in either a house or an apartment setting as long as her people are committed to daily walks and playtime to control her energy level. Libby has the potential to be a flight risk and should not be left unleashed unless she’s in a securely fenced area. She also has an affinity for water. Libby’s forever home should be one with no possible unsupervised access to a pool or water feature.
Libby should not be left home alone for an entire workday due to her age and need for consistent potty training. She will do best in a home where someone is able to spend a lot of time with her. Libby could potentially grow into an office dog as she matures and settles down but as a puppy her energy may be too much – not to mention her puppy cuteness which is a major distraction!
Foster mom has this to say about Libby: “Libby has a big personality and a big heart. She is extremely affectionate and loves to snuggle – when she’s not going 110 mph! She needs a family who will be there for her as she figures out all of the exciting things in the world. Have fantasies of posting videos of your dog riding the Roomba around? Forget it! If you think your family is the perfect fit for little Libby, please submit your application and let us know why. Then get ready for a trip to Northern California because FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
