Lizzo’s foster mom reports that she has been an absolute joy to foster and could likely thrive anywhere. Whoa, what a compliment! If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly Frenchie to spend all your time with, then your search ends here! However, be warned those of you with sensitive hearts…she is one of those equal opportunity snugglers, so she isn’t particular on who’s lap she settles into. Whereas Lizzo loves human companionship, someone who can be home most of the day (or have someone who can come by to offer their lap and let her out for a potty break) would be best. She would also love a dog friend to play with and does well with both larger and smaller dogs, but she does seem to play better with bigger dogs (as she tends to play a bit rough). Slow introductions are an absolute must.

Story
Wooooo girl, need to kick off your shoes…gotta take a deep breath…time to focus on you! Little Lizzo’s time has finally arrived and she’s made her way to the available page. This Georgia peach was lovingly surrendered to FBRN after being hit by a car, so she could receive the medical care she desperately needed. It was initially thought that her left leg hind leg would require amputation, but thanks to a talented surgeon, they were able to save it and she has fully recovered.
Lizzo can be a bit selective with other dogs and greet inappropriately, so she needs her own timeline to warm up to them. She seems to have a more dominant type of personality and may have a conflict with another dominant dog (especially another female dog).
It is also a known fact that the way to Lizzo’s heart is through her tummy. She LOVES food and treats and can be persuaded to do pretty much anything for them. This means she requires a hefty pawllowance as she is a destructive chewer who loves her stuffies & chew toys, especially Benebones and Himalayan chews. Have you been looking for a “will work for treats” security guard for your home? Well, look no further as Lizzo is a vigilant protector who will scramble to the door or window if she hears anything concerning. Don’t be fooled by this behavior though, as most of the time she is a laid-back couch potato who loves her short walks (just 1/4 to 1/2 mile for this little lady) and then will happily spend her time sitting peacefully outside and sunbathing.
While Lizzo loves her adult humans and older children, she is a bit uneasy around the little ones…so it’s recommended she go to a home with no small children. Also, no cats or other small animals around this girl, as she has a STRONG prey drive…so she must be leashed or contained within a fence at all times. She can also be easily overstimulated and reactive in uncomfortable situations plus a little anxious in the car (who isn’t) so if you want to welcome Lizzo into your family, please be prepared to break up your trip if you don’t live nearby.
Do you consider yourself (and your family members) patient and capable of providing structure and consistency to help Lizzo build her confidence?! Then it’s time to welcome this sassy, little velcro girl into her furever home, so fill out an application today!
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter’s home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
