“Luka is a sweet boy. He has lived with a child that he loved very much. Luka has been through a lot in his life so far — he was originally from Ukraine and was adopted in the US through a rescue in Canada. Luka loves balls most of all (especially his Jolly Ball) and also enjoys bones and squeaky toys. Luka has a lot of energy and a lot of love to give! My wish for him would be to go to a home where he will get plenty of love, attention, and additional training.”

Story
Luka is a busy bee and enjoys being active. He knows a few basic commands, but would do well with continued leash and behavioral training. While he is food motivated, he can be quite stubborn and easily excitable so will need someone who is patient and willing to work with him where he is at. For entertainment, Luka LOVES balls, especially his beloved Jolly ball. Inside, he is content chewing on a bone or squeaky toy. And a long day of playing, he enjoys an equally long nap!
On the health side, Luka had BOAS surgery to open his nares and shorten his soft palate in August. This meaningfully improved his breathing, but his adoptive family will need to watch his breathing and make sure he does not overly exert himself.
When it comes to roommates, Luka is a little picky. He is a resource guarder so he will require a firm pack leader. He would do best in a home with no other dogs or a calm and submissive male dog of equal or slightly larger size. Luka likes cats TOO much and found great joy in chasing the resident cats in his foster home, so cats are a no. Luka has previously lived with an older child who he loved. He would do well in a home with an older child who could understand and respect Luka’s boundaries.
Luka is slow to trust and sensitive to changes in his environment. His forever family will need to be aware and patient with him as he adjusts to his new home. His ideal home could be a single person or a family and Frenchie experience is preferred. A fenced in yard is also required so he can safely run and play with balls outside. He likes to be around his people, so being in a home where someone is home most of the time would be best. He would be a little too busy to bring to an office. Luka sometimes gets motion sickness in the car so his future family will need to consider breaking up their drive if far from his foster home. He would not do well on a flight.
Luka’s foster family adores him and has this to say, “Luka is a sweet boy.
If you think your home is incomplete without Luka, please submit your application and tell us why! Luka cannot wait to meet you!
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications.
About Luka
Luka was neutered 08/13/2023.
Luka became aggressive with other dogs while on Trazadone.
Luka has a bite history and is a resource guarder, so he requires a firm pack leader and must never be around small children. He must be monitored during feeding and when toys are present. A slow intro is required if there are other dogs in the home.
Luka suffers from motion sickness in the car, and may need to take Cerenia as prescribed to help treat it.
