“Lula had a very challenging life before she came to FBRN. She had terrible sores and was covered with yeast. Her skin was raw and itchy. It took months for her to heal and become healthy. Then her personality really began to shine. She has a lovely, soulful expression on her face and wants to love her people. She deserves to be cared for and cherished. She will make a wonderful addition to your family.”

Story
Sweet little Lula has arrived on the available page just in time for the fall foliage! This four-year-old cream puff was tearfully surrendered when her family could no longer manage her allergies and the cost of treatment. After months of treatment in her foster home, Lula is feeling better and her wonderful personality is on display for all to see!
Lula is a soulful and mellow girl. She enjoys cuddling up with her people and relaxing. We’ve also heard through the grapevine that Lula gives actual hugs! This sweet girl will wrap her arms around your neck and let you know that she’s all yours! She tends to be quiet and then once she warms up, she’s ready to play. Lula loves tennis balls and stuffed animals. Don’t be surprised if Lula shows off her best play moves during a game of keep away. She enjoys taking walks but does not require a lot of exercise. In her downtime, Lula enjoys taking in the sights and sounds of her surroundings while chewing on a Benebone. Like Hannah Montana, you’ll get the best of both worlds with this girl!
Unfortunately, Lula has significant environmental and food allergies. In order to keep her skin in tip-top shape, she needs to have a Cytopoint shot every four weeks and weekly baths. Luckily, Lula loves to take baths, so you can get those rubber ducks ready! She is on a raw diet and must have her food ordered and prepared for her. She is as sweet as honey, just like her honey pied coat, and will certainly leave a five-star review for the chef! Lula takes daily medication, which can be served alongside her meals. Someone with allergy experience is preferred, but Lula could also be a fit for a first time Frenchie owner. Another health consideration for her future family to take into account is her inverted tail. Lula’s corkscrew tail points in the wrong direction, which can be quite uncomfortable for her. Her vet has suggested that the tail be amputated in the future.
While she may have a lot going on health-wise, don’t let that deter you from making this amazing girl a part of your family! First off, she likes cats. You read that right, a dog liking cats! Lula is also a big fan of other dogs! It’s not uncommon to find Lula in a cuddle puddle with one of her foster fur-siblings. Lula is more submissive and gets nervous when encountering large dogs. We think she would do best with small or medium sized dogs in her forever home. Lula enjoys the company of children and lived with them before arriving in foster care. Her foster home has teenagers and she jumps for joy when they come home! Lula can be a little shy when she meets someone new, but warms up quickly. Lula sometimes gets too excited and can be mouthy which may not be great for smaller kiddos. Also, while we know she’s just very happy to see you, she could knock over small children. Lula is easily corrected, but we don’t recommend her moving into a home with children under ten.
Lula has separation anxiety and can be very vocal about it. She gets scared if she’s left alone or separated from her people when they are home, and she will break out in the classic Frenchie death wail to let everyone know that she’s not a happy camper. It would be best if her forever home was strategically located (or sound-proofed) so the neighbors didn’t have to hear her singing the blues!
Due to her shyness, Lula may not be the best candidate for an office setting, but she will pose for the camera so you can certainly show off her pretty face to your co-workers!
Here are a few words from Lula’s loving foster mom, “Lula had a very challenging life before she came to FBRN.
This sweet girl has come a long way from when she first arrived in rescue. She has blossomed into a beautiful butterfly and is ready to fly away with her new family. Lula is small and able to travel by plane. She wouldn’t mind taking a road trip either, as long as there are hugs and kisses along the way.
If Lula fits the bill to join your family, please submit an application and get ready to travel to Ohio! FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
