“You just look at Mallard, and fall in love. He is such a handsome man, with a kind soul. Every girl’s dream, right?! Mallard’s a bit needy when it comes to attention; he will paw at you until you get the hint to scratch him. Make sure to free up your evening for some cuddle time because once he lays between your legs, you are not getting up. Do you ever get a little lonely in the shower? Well, leave it up to Mallard to jump in there with you, or wait on the rug until you get out. Either way, he’s content. If Mallard misses you, he’ll let you know by letting out a whine. Mallard loves to be with his person. Anyone is so lucky to be blessed with such a loyal companion. He has done nothing more than bring joy to my house.”

Story
After being surrendered by his previous family, our ducky boy Mallard is ready to find his forever home! Mallard is a very sweet loving boy who likes to be with his favorite people as much as possible. He likes to spend his days shadowing his people around the house, playing fetch, de-stuffing toys, going for walks, and cuddling during naps.
Mallard has never met a person he didn’t love. He gets so excited to meet new people, and since he is so athletic, he jumps up and tries to kiss new friends on the nose when he meets them with a cute little boop!
Mallard is a very easy going guy. With lots of kisses and praise, he lets his foster parents trim his nails and brush his teeth. Just like his namesake, he loves the water and a good bath! In fact, he sometimes tries to jump into the shower with his foster mom! He also loves to play under the hose out in the yard. Mallard tolerates being in his crate, although he would prefer to be out of the crate hanging out with his favorite people.
The perfect home for Mallard is with a family who can work on his training and help him feel secure in his new home. Mallard has shown signs of separation anxiety. He will whine when left alone and prefers to be near people as much as possible. He has also shown some toy aggression, so his new family will need to keep an eye on that behavior. Mallard’s new family must also keep up with his allergy management. Mallard gets a medicated bath 2 times per week, and his facial folds must be wiped with medicated wipes in the morning and in the evening. He also takes heart worm and flea/tick prevention once monthly. Additionally, Mallard takes doggie probiotics and fish oil once per day. His forever family should be willing to continue with this regime.
Mallard would do best with a family who has a home with a fenced yard, and time to dedicate to this deserving guy. Mallard loves to play fetch and he really loves having a yard to run around in. Mallard can be crated for up to 6 hours at a time, so his new family could work outside of the home as long as someone comes by to give him a mid-day potty break. Mallard is very smart and eager to please, and with a little extra training, we think he would make a great office companion!
Mallard’s foster family has this to share about him, “You just look at Mallard, and fall in love.
If you would like to adopt Mallard, be prepared to travel. This lucky duck is being fostered in Northeast Ohio and will not be shipped. Mallard does very well on car trips, but should not fly on airplanes. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog
