Story
In the morning, this petite princess kicks off her day with spunk, rallying her older furry foster siblings to play. She’s a master at tugging on their heartstrings, quite literally sometimes pulling at the skin around their necks in an effort to get their attention. After breakfast and a potty break, Marci switches gears to embrace her inner nap queen or indulge in some bone-chewing bliss.
Marci can be quite the mischief maker and her toy-takeovers keep her furry foster siblings on their toes. She has a soft spot for her foster sisters and a special attachment to her human foster dad, always on the lookout for his whereabouts. Taking walks is a favorite pastime of hers, especially with her furry foster sister.
In the hierarchy of treats, Marci aims to be at the top. Refining her etiquette around food should be a top priority for her adoptive family, as she is a resource guarder. Marci should be fed separately from other pups as she believes all food belongs to her. Fast and furious is Marci’s approach to mealtime, so she eats from a special bowl that helps her slow down.
At just 14 pounds, fully grown, Marci is a very tiny Frenchie. She has been diagnosed with Dwarfism, which can lead to tethered cord syndrome. With this syndrome, the spinal cord becomes “pinned down” and doesn’t grow properly with the vertebra. In her case, this could lead to neurological issues over time. While she is asymptomatic now, she also has luxating patellas, so should not be allowed to jump and should be carried up and down stairs. Because of this, the best type of home for Marci is one that is single story or that has stairs that are blocked off.
She loves cats, kids, and other dogs. Due to her small size and delicate back, a similar sized dog that is laid back would be best for Marci. Older, dog savvy children would be the best match. Potty training is a work in process. She has a small bladder so needs to be let out frequently. For this reason, someone that works from home or is retired would be ideal. She has a curve in her spine that prevents her from properly squatting to go ‘#2. Her forever family should be ok with cleaning her bum after bowel movements.
Petite, sassy and undeniably cute, Marci is ready to charm her way into a forever home where her playful spirit can shine. Her foster mom had this to say, “Marci is our little nugget and has become part of our pack. We love her and will miss her. We hope her new family will continue to treat her and shower her with affection like we have.”
If you have a soft spot for this adorable girl and are prepared to manage medical issues should they arise, then all you have to do is apply to adopt her. If you are selected, be ready to take a road trip with a new sidekick in tow.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
About Marci
Marci had spay surgery on 11.03.2023.
Potty training is a work in progress.
Marci has brachycephalic airway syndrome. She may require procedures to correct this in the future. Her breathing must be monitored during exercise or play, and she must wear a harness when going for walks, never a collar or choke chain.
Marci has been diagnosed with Dwarfism and is at risk for Tethered Cord Syndrome as she grows, which may cause neurological symptoms in the future. She has some neurologic abnormalities from congenital defects, and minor evidence of Hydrocephalus. She is able to urinate and defecate on her own, however she requires wiping after bowel movements.
Marci is a resource guarder so must never be around small children. She must be monitored during feeding and when toys are present. A slow intro is required if there are other dogs in the home.
Marci has a luxating patella that is asymptomatic at this time and must be monitored. She must always be carried up and down stairs and must not be allowed to jump on or off the furniture.
