“Matcha is a very sweet little girl who loves giving kisses and going for car rides. She is very well behaved when we take her out for lunch and she just loves being with people. When we picked her up, we flew her in our small plane and she was amazing during her first plane ride. She has a great personality and I know her forever family will fall in love with her as quickly as we have.”
Whereas green tea matcha is an acquired taste, FBRN’s newest adoptable Frenchie, Matcha, is sure to please everyone! At two years old, sweet Matcha was surrendered due to her previous family not having enough time to properly care for her. She came into foster with hind-end weakness, but the use of her back legs has since improved and she is ready to showcase her wonderful attributes to all of her admirers.
Matcha has the cutest little face you ever did see with the most beautiful markings. And she is just the sweetest and happiest gal who has been around dogs, cats, horses, and goats (and lions and tigers and bears – oh my! Disclaimer: Matcha has not actually been around lions, tigers or bears). She has loved every single person she ever met but has not had the opportunity to be around any children; she would likely do very well with older, respectful kids. She has growled at the resident dogs before when she has had a bone so, out of an abundance of caution, she should be monitored around any kids, other dogs and toys.
Here is a list of some of Matcha’s favorite things: playing with other dogs, running along the fence line with the horses, playing with squeaky or rope toys, and chewing on chew toys. If left alone be warned, she will find things that she considers chew toys even if you do not. Matcha is crate trained and does really well sleeping in one at night, but time in a crate during the day should not be prolonged as inactivity can affect her muscle tone which in turn could worsen her leg weakness. Having that said, being in a home where someone is around most of the time would be ideal, not only for her physical well-being but also because she loves her people. With Matcha’s sweet disposition, she might adjust well to an office but would need frequent breaks and lots of authorized chew toys.
Due to Matcha’s hind-end weakness, she must always be carried up and down stairs and not be allowed to jump off any furniture. An apartment or home with a lot of stairs might not be the best match unless you’re training for a strong-person competition and want a lot of practice carrying a 25 pound meatball. Matcha doesn’t have the best control over her bladder or bowels and is incontinent at times so the less carpet in the residence the better. During routine lab draws, it was found that Matcha had some elevated liver enzymes. She will need to remain on her daily liver supplement and have regular lab draws to monitor the levels. If the levels increase again, she may need a CT scan to investigate possible causes. She is also on Vetri Disc, a spine supplement to help with mobility issues, which needs to be continued in her forever home.

If Matcha sounds like your perfect cup of tea, don’t hesitate to apply. She may need a little extra attention and care, but she is absolutely worth it! And while she aced her first time on a plane, as a veterinary chiropractor, foster mom would love for Matcha’s adopters to be local so that she can continue her bodyworks treatments on Matcha free of charge. Matcha loves car rides so plan your route to Florida because FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations and we do not set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
Matcha has limited hind-end mobility and some incontinence. She must always be carried up and down stairs and must not be allowed to jump on or off the furniture. She must remain on daily Vetri Disc supplement.
Matcha ‘s liver enzymes (ALT) were elevated on 12.17.2021, and was started on Dogzymes Liver Support. She must remain on the supplement and her liver enzymes should be regularly checked. She may need a CT scan in the future to rule out possible congenital issues.
