“Monet came into my care as a tiny puppy who was clearly physically uncomfortable. After a few procedures and some food changes, we have gotten her to a point where she can be a “normal” puppy, just one with a cute diaper. She has learned basic commands and is motivated to learn more (assuming a treat is involved). Monet is a frenchie that won’t leave your side (unless its zoomie hour) and loves her morning hugs. When its bath time, she runs to the sink and just relaxes in the water like it’s her spa day. She has been through a lot in under a year but is an absolute love bug.”

Story
Sweetie pie Monet is ready to find the perfect forever home! Monet loves to spend her days going for walks at the park, sunbathing in the yard, playing with the other pups she lives with, chewing on her bones, and sneaking in a few naps on foster mom’s lap. She has two modes: play and snuggle. She is looking for a home with someone who sees that her amazing sweet personality outweighs her special needs.
Monet loves to be around her favorite people on the couch or chewing a toy at her foster mom’s feet. She has lot of puppy energy and she also enjoys a few snuggly naps throughout the day. Monet loves her walks at the park and she stops to say hi to everyone she meets. She is good with other dogs and loves to play with her foster sister, a chocolate lab, having no idea she is a quarter of her foster sister’s size. Since Monet is still a puppy, she tends to get a little sneaky and try to steal shoes or chew on things she shouldn’t, but she can be quickly redirected to play with her toys. This little cutie pie also has a habit of getting her zoomies out in the backyard at the end of every day.
In general, Monet gets along really well with other dogs. However, she has a resource guarding problem when it comes to her food. Her foster family has been working with a trainer on this and the behavior has decreased tremendously. Her adopting family will need to continue her training in this area and feed her separately from other dogs in the home. Monet is not allowed access to the kitchen when her foster family is cooking and this has also helped her behavior a lot. For this reason, Monet should be only adopted by a family that has previous experience managing behavior issues and/or has no other dogs.
Monet is crate trained and sleeps and relaxes in her crate at night and when her foster family is away from home. Monet wears diapers due to fecal incontinence. She came into rescue with the inability to pass bowel movements due to scar tissue thought to have come from a poorly done rectal prolapse surgery. She has since had additional surgeries to remove the scar tissue and allow her to pass stool. Although she can now pass stool on her own, she has fecal incontinence due to the prior damage. She wears diapers due to the small amount of stool leakage she has during the day. There is a potential that she could need additional surgeries in the future, and she may benefit from some dietary changes when she is fully grown. Monet’s new home should continue to monitor her health and have access to an internal medicine veterinarian.
The perfect home for Monet is with a family who has experience with a special needs dog and knows the joy they bring despite their differences. Monet is comfortable in her crate, but would do best with someone home most of the day to take her outside for potty breaks and to change her diaper. She is still a puppy so cannot be crated for too long without potty breaks. Although Monet loves the company of other dogs, she may do best in a home without any other pets due to her resource guarding tendencies. Children under the age of 12 are not recommended due to her puppy personality which includes play nipping and jumping. Monet’s new home should have a fenced yard or porch with a grassy area so she can easily do her business outside. Monet would be a great dog to take to the office because she loves all the people she meets. Plus she wears diapers so there would never be any accidents in the office!
It would be wonderful if Monet’s new family lives near Southeast Pennsylvania so that she could stay with the same veterinary team. If her perfect forever family lives outside of the area, that is fine too! As long as Monet has the love and care that she needs.
Monet’s foster mom has this to share about her, “Monet came into my care as a tiny puppy who was clearly physically uncomfortable.
If you would like to adopt Monet, please be prepared to travel. This little cutie is being fostered in Southeast Pennsylvania and will not be shipped. Lucky for you, Monet does great on road trips and she’s small enough to fly in cabin with her new family.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
