Special Needs
“MuShu struggled adapting to the life of a young, growing family and the excitement and chaos that came with it. However, as our current foster friend, MuShu is absolutely thriving, and has really snuggled his way into our hearts! He can be found chewing his bone while I work, snoozing in the sun (or on his foster Dad’s lap!), or wrestling with our resident dog (who’s 2x his size!). Although he can be a stubborn pup at times, when he flips over for belly rubs with that big goofy Frenchie smile – it’s all worth it! Don’t let his age fool you – at 7 years old, MuShu isn’t slowing down and has many adventures ahead of him. I can’t wait to find him a family that wants to dote on this little gentlemen with all the face smushes, butt scratches and love he deserves!”
MuShu is on the lookout for his forever family! When a new baby arrived, his previous family found it difficult to give him the time and attention he deserves. Because MuShu was also having difficulty adjusting to the chaos that a new baby brings, they felt it was in his best interest to surrender him to FBRN. We know this was a difficult decision and it was a tearful surrender, but we’re happy FBRN is here to help dogs like MuShu find the perfect forever home to fit their needs.
Like many of his fellow Frenchies, MuShu has a history of allergies. His foster mom has been able to keep them under control with daily Apoquel and a limited ingredient diet. Allergy medication will be a life-long requirement for MuShu, and potential adopters must be prepared for the medication cost. The good news is that aside from those pesky allergies, MuShu is a healthy boy!
Regrettably, MuShu is a resource guarder, particularly with toys. His future family must be prepared to manage this naughty behavior. MuShu does not enjoy sharing toys or having people try to take those toys away, and he will nip to express his displeasure. In his foster home, available toys are limited to just one or two at a time and “leave it” commands are practiced daily. This has been working quite well. MuShu is smart and very food motivated, so once he understood the expectations, his foster family had no issues removing toys. MuShu will need a person who is patient and committed to continually reinforcing his training.
MuShu loves children but would do best in a home without young kids due to his resource guarding of toys. Cats are not on MuShu’s list of favorite things and he should not be placed in a home with cats. Dogs are a different story! MuShu loves his foster dog sibling and would do well either as an only dog or in a home with a very passive, non-reactive pup. As always, slow introductions should be followed.
Did we mention that MuShu is a very smart little boy! He knows all his basic commands and loves learning new tricks. He’s potty trained and crate trained and when asked to “go” or “crate” he’s more than happy to follow those directions. MuShu is great on leash and despite being a touch older, he is very active! He loves his daily walks around the neighborhood, playing fetch, or just chewing happily on a bone.
MuShu’s ideal family would consist of experienced dog owners who are able to handle his behavioral issues. They will need to set firm boundaries to deal with his stubborn personality! He would do great in a house or apartment and does not require a fenced-in yard. MuShu would also do great as an office pup or he’d happily stay home and nap while you’re away at work.
Foster Mom has this to say about sweet little MuShu, “MuShu struggled adapting to the life of a young, growing family and the excitement and chaos that came with it. If MuShu sounds like the dog for you, please submit your application and tell us why. MuShu would love to meet you, so if you’re selected, be prepared to travel to the great state of Vermont. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
MuShu is a resource guarder so must never be around small children.
MuShu must be monitored during feeding and when toys are present. A slow intro is required if there are other dogs in the home.
MuShu has several allergies and must remain on daily Apoquel, Forza10 Nutraceutic Active Dermo Dry, and have regular medicated baths.
