“Newton is a delightful puppy and we are grateful to be part of his journey to finding his forever family! His goofiness makes us laugh, his mischievous ways keep us on our toes, and his loving personality melts our hearts. He is always up for an adventure, meeting new friends (furry and furless), and really desires to be with his humans as much as possible. Our hope for him is that he finds a home that can shower him with all of the love and attention he deserves… and craves!”

Story
This darling boy arrived in FBRN care after a change in his previous family’s circumstances left them with insufficient time to care for an active puppy. Recognizing that Newton was spending far too much time alone in his crate, they made the unselfish and loving decision to surrender him to rescue so that he could get the attention he craves. And indeed, Newton is the very definition of Velcro Frenchie! He has no concept of “personal space,” so his new family should be prepared for copious amounts of cuddles and snuggles, preferably on the couch and the people bed.
Newton doesn’t do things halfway—he plays hard and then he snoozes hard. During the day, he can be found playing with his toys, wrasslin’ with his Frenchie foster sister, and tearing around the backyard like a bat (eared dog) out of heck. He’s a very clever boy who doesn’t tire easily, so lots of exercise and playtime is a must. But once he’s got his ya-yas out, Newton wants nothing more than snuggle up and fall asleep in his foster mom’s lap (fair warning, he is a snorer!)
Newton has never met another person, dog, or cat that he doesn’t like, or that he doesn’t want to play with. He doesn’t always pick up on social cues from his furry friends, though, so any resident canines should be tolerant of his puppy-like antics (which include getting nippy during play). Newton also thinks kids are fantastic, but due to his high energy level, he’d do better with older, dog-savvy children who won’t get him over-stimulated (and who aren’t at risk of being knocked over by a speeding blur of Frenchie).
Newton gets perfect 10s for personality, adorableness, and snuggle-ability, but scores a bit lower when it comes to his health. Unfortunately, like many dogs bred for color instead of conformation, Netwon suffers from severe allergies. Just about every allergen under the sun gives him the itchies, including storage mites, pollen, and 99% of commercial dog foods. Newton’s new family must be committed to a very strict regime of raw food (beef only), daily medication and supplements, biweekly medicated baths, and monthly Cytopoint injections. Newton also has to have his feet and underside wiped down after every trip outdoors. Kibble and dog treats are verboten, as are any scraps from the dining table. Finally, Newton should avoid playing in long grass, and his ears must be carefully monitored for recurring infections.
So yes, Newton requires a bit more care than your average dog, but we think you’ll agree with his foster mom that he’s worth it and then some. She says, “Newton is a delightful puppy and we are grateful to be part of his journey to finding his forever family!
If you think your family is the perfect match for Newton, then fill out an application to adopt and tell us why! But be prepared to travel—Newton is romping about (and snoozing about) the great state of Missouri, and will not be shipped.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
About Newton
Newton is allergic to storage mites and cannot eat kibble, dry snacks, or treats. He has environmental allergies, so his exposure should be limited to mowed grass, and his feet and underside should be wiped after walks to remove pollen and relieve itching.
Newton has a history of ear infections that must be monitored for recurrence.
Newton would benefit from obedience training to address how he nips during play.
