“Noel has come so far since she came into our home. Initially she would cower in the corner, pancake and or run if approached. She had no appetite, bad teeth, some dermatitis and overall was so sad. When I look at her now, she has light in her eyes, loves her food and enjoys being around the family on her terms. She enjoys sunbathing outside and lounging in a dog bed with foster sisters Dottie and Nellie. Everyone that meets her cannot get over how beautiful she is. Our home will miss her when she moves on, but knowing she will be settled in a forever home, filled with love for her to flourish, is what makes this journey so beautiful”.

Story
Noel had airway surgery while in foster care, and her breathing is great now. After lots of TLC and a consistent high-quality diet, Noel no longer shows any signs of allergies and she’s at a healthy weight. Her forever home should be prepared to continue this routine.
Even after many months in foster care, Noel is still cautious of new people and would prefer to stick to her one special person. She is trying to become a snuggler, but for now, it’s on her terms only. When she comes to you, it’s great! But she’s still not quite comfortable with anyone else initiating snuggle-time. She also doesn’t fancy being picked up, so if you are looking for a smooshy, lap dog, then we’re sorry to say that Noel is not the right girl for you. That said, she quickly learned to enjoy fluffy beds and has started to show interest in toys, so with some time and patience, she may also become a world-class snuggler!
Noel is potty trained, and as long as she’s kept on a regular schedule, and let out pretty quickly after eating, she doesn’t have any accidents in the house. She is not fond of her crate and will voice her objections so a forever home where she doesn’t need to be crated is best. Noel is eager to please, especially if a treat is involved, and she’s great on a leash. She also really enjoys her short 20-minute walks.
Noel prefers to be the alpha and can be protective of “her” person. She also has a very high prey drive. This means her forever home should not include cats, birds, or other small critters! Young kids are also a no-go, and we think Noel would do best with canine pals that are on the more submissive side. She gets along well with her furry foster sisters, but Noel is the alpha of the group. She will require a forever home with an experienced owner who has plenty of patience and love to give.
Noel would do best in home where she has access to a securely fenced backyard for potty breaks, but she could also adjust to doing her business on leash. Noel needs a person who will help her continue her journey and learn to live a dog’s best life, and that’s why having lots of daily access and interaction with her person is the most important thing. Ideally, Noel’s forever family would have experience with dogs who have experienced trauma and may have reactivity. But any family with dog experience who has lots of patience and love would be wonderful as Noel continues to learn to trust.
Here are a few words from Noel’s foster Mom: “Noel has come so far since she came into our home.
If Noel sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please apply for her today! Then make sure you’re ready for a road trip to Eastern Central New York because this beautiful girl will not be shipped.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. Noel would love to have you fill out an application and perhaps get to pick her up and take her to her forever home. It’s a lovely time of year in the Catskills! Car travel is no problem for Noel.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations and we do not set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
