“Paulie will be a great buddy for someone; he just wants to be around his people. He loves to sit with his foster dad, even watching video games. He is content to chew on a toy, as long as people are in the room. During meal prep, he loves to sit on one of the cushioned mats in the kitchen, just watching it all happen. As he has become more comfortable with us, he likes to snuggle and will give kisses when you ask. Paulie does not like to be cold, so he will wear a jacket going outside, and he likes having a heater to stay warm when the temperature drops. Even during a bath, he will let you know if the water is not warm enough!”

Story
Swoon! Honey-pied hunk Paulie is making his debut on the Available Page, and we have a feeling he won’t be here long. Read on to find out if you and this handsome boy are a match made in Frenchie heaven.
Paulie arrived at FBRN after a change in his original family’s circumstances left them unable to give him the time and attention he deserves. Indeed, Paulie is not the type of dog who enjoys solitude—he’s a people dog through and through, who soaks up attention like a little bat-eared sponge. It takes Paulie a little time to warm up to new humans, but once he feels comfortable around his people, there’s no place he’d rather be. Working on the computer? Paulie will happily snooze while you reply to irritating e-mails. Folding laundry? Paulie will offer silent encouragement while he gnaws on a bone. Watching questionable reality TV shows? Paulie will cuddle at your side with zero judgment.
Paulie is also a big fan of chew toys (particularly those with squeakers), stuffies (he likes to suckle them before tearing them apart) and long walks (he can easily go for a mile or more). Paulie is well house trained, and he is crate trained, but he prefers being out and about. Paulie is a resource guarder and will growl at even his favorite people if they get too close to his toys if he is not in the mood to play. Paulie has a strong prey drive and likes to chase things, so cats and small animals should steer clear. He is not a fan of other dogs and can be very leash reactive, and even after weeks of slow introductions, Paulie had zero desire to interact with his canine foster siblings. His behaviors have made it clear that he is happiest as an only dog.
Paulie’s general good health (and lack of common Frenchie ailments) make him a good candidate for a first-time bulldog owner. But Paulie’s new people should definitely have dog experience, and all the better if it’s with dogs who don’t play well with others. Paulie needs a firm leader who can set appropriate boundaries and work to decrease his reactive behaviors. His foster family has made great strides with Paulie in this respect, and his new family will need to stay on the job.
The perfect home for Paulie is one where he can be his people’s one and only, with no other dogs, cats, or other pets to steal away the attention that is rightfully his. Due to his guarding behaviors, he should not be around children, and his new family must understand that it can take Paulie some time to warm up to new people. A fenced yard would be great, especially if it’s not in a high-trafficked area where other dogs pass by regularly. And while Paulie isn’t too worried about the size or location of your digs, apartment dwellers should know that Paulie can get pretty vocal when there’s any sort of excitement around the house.
Paulie’s foster mom thinks that her boy is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and tells us, “Paulie will be a great buddy for someone; he just wants to be around his people. He loves to sit with his foster dad, even watching video games. He is content to chew on a toy, as long as people are in the room. During meal prep, he loves to sit on one of the cushioned mats in the kitchen, just watching it all happen. Even during a bath, he will let you know if the water is not warm enough!”
Well gosh, we’re convinced! If you find yourself equally enamored with darling Paulie, please fill out an application to adopt and tell us why you’d be a perfect match. Just be prepared to travel, Paulie is snuggled up next to the heat vent in lovely Louisiana, and will not be shipped and is too big to fly in the cabin of a commercial carrier.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
About Paulie
Paulie has no allergies and has done very well on a few Natural Dog Company’s supplements and regular medicated baths to keep his skin clear.
Paulie is a resource guarder so must never be around small children and remain an only dog. He must be monitored during feeding and when toys are present.
