“Pawtucket can be the sweetest and cutest little fat-headed dog. He absolutely loves the water and watching him play with the water hose is a hoot. He needs an active family to be included in all their activities, but he also needs time and understanding as he works through his terrible twos and his manners.”

Story
Are you a busy bee? An eager beaver? Do you prefer lifting to loafing? Running to relaxing? Then do we have the perfect pet for you—Pawtucket!
Pawtucket arrived in FBRN care when his previous family just couldn’t keep up with his exuberance, and knew he would be happier in a more active household. And when we say this boy has energy, we aren’t pulling your leg—Pawtucket may be French, but he’s more like a bat-eared Tasmanian devil (complete with sniffles and snorts). And if you’ve ever seen him going nutso with the hose and the kiddy pool, you might think he’s got some Portuguese water dog in him as well!
At just two years old, Pawtucket still has a lot to learn about manners and proper pet behavior. His potty training is a work in progress, and he gets into all kind of puppy mischief, including but not limited to stealing (and occasionally shredding) socks, shoes, pillows, and in one particularly unfortunate incident, a remote control. Pawtucket is also a play biter, and will nip at hands when he gets especially excited. His new family must be prepared to work with him on these behaviors, and understand that it will take positive reinforcement and a lot of patience to get Pawtucket where he needs to be.
Pawtucket arrived in foster care with a doozy of an ear infection, but we’re happy to report that a round of antibiotics did just the trick! His new family will need to monitor those beautiful bat ears for reoccurrence, and be sure to whisk him straight to the vet if he shows any sign of itching or discomfort.
The perfect home for Pawtucket is one where he can get plenty of physical and mental stimulation. A securely fenced yard for exercise is a must—leashed walks alone won’t cut it for this boy, and he does have a tendency to bolt. Pawtucket doesn’t care much for cats, but he’d be happy with another canine companion or two, particularly if they are high energy like him. As for people, Pawtucket loves them all, no matter their age or size, but any kids in the house should be older and dog-savvy—he would easily bowl over those of the preschool variety. Pawtucket also needs his people to be home for most of the day, as he is not yet at the point where he can be crated for long periods of time. Like we said, he’s a work in progress!
Pawtucket’s foster mom is head over heels for this adorable boy, and tells us, “Pawtucket can be the sweetest and cutest little fat-headed dog. He absolutely loves the water and watching him play with the water hose is a hoot. He needs an active family to be included in all their activities, but he also needs time and understanding as he works through his terrible twos and his manners.”
If you’ve got the energy and the know-how to provide a perfect home for our Pawtucket pup, then fill out an application to adopt and tell us why! Just be prepared to travel—Pawtucket is practicing his water ballet in southeastern Texas, and will not be shipped.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
