When you want something fresh and light, look no further than Pesto! And while he may not be the lightest of Frenchies, he is one of the freshest. At 2 years old, Pesto is a bundle of energy who was surrendered when his family realized he needed a calmer environment than they could provide in order for him to thrive. Having been very well cared for, he has already found himself on the available page.

Just like pesto sauce is the perfect blend of basil, pine nuts and parmesan cheese, our Pesto is the perfect blend of puppy energy and Frenchie snoozles. He is quite active so will require a lot of exercise and walks but after some romping, he’s ready for some quiet nap time. He is a happy, healthy (applause!) and outgoing boy. He plays well with the submissive resident Frenchie unless she wants to take his toys; his toys are his toys and no one else’s! Because of this tendency to resource guard and his abundance of energy, we recommend a household without younger children. He also has a pretty dominant personality so any resident dogs in his new home should be tolerant of potentially pushy, audacious behavior. While in foster care, he has been working on his obedience training which includes working on his leash reactivity to dogs while on walks.

Pesto’s favorite toys involve squeakers in the form of squeaky balls and squeaky toys, but he also really enjoys chew bones as well. He would love to have a fenced yard in which he could chase the aforementioned squeaky balls and expend some of his endless energy. He does love the outdoors so keep an eye out for his potential escape when someone opens the front door. Pesto, or any pupper, should never be outside unsupervised. Pesto would probably do best in a situation where someone is home most of the day. He loves humans and attention and would likely get bored if left to his own devices for too long. Someone with bulldog knowledge would be a plus so let us know in your application about any previous experience.

As Pesto matures and learns to reel in his energy, he may make a perfectly suitable office companion for those allowed to bring their pets to work (lucky!) but don’t plan on taking him right off the bat. Just like with perfecting a pesto recipe, this Pesto will need a little training, patience and praise to be his best self. Pesto’s foster family wants you to know that, “He is a sweetheart. He is very dependent on humans and looks to them for approval. We couldn’t have asked for a better little guy and he will be your new best friend.”
