“Riff, came to my home not knowing very much about the outside world. He is a sweet boy who is learning about the life of a dog. Riff has come a long way. When he first arrived, he wouldn’t lay in a crate with the tray in it because he was scared of the surface. Now he is cozy in the crate with a nice blanket to lay on and no more fears. Riff has also learned a morning routine and is happy to follow it. This boy has a lot of love to give if given the chance to show it and continue his training to be the best he can be. He is a sweet gem, and he has the eyes that just tell you thank you for giving him a place to finally be cozy and warm.”

Story
Guess who is very excited to be moving to the available page? It’s Riff! One small step for most Frenchies but a giant leap for Riff-kind. He was surrendered to FBRN from a breeding facility, and he had very limited experience to most things in life. But we know his family is out there and it could be you!
Foster mom has been working very hard to help Riff learn to live in a home with a loving family. He is no longer afraid of his crate (huge!), and he loves being able to wander in the fenced yard with no restrictions. He would love a fenced yard in his new home where he could explore and “snoopervize” everything that is happening around him. Riff is also beginning to learn about toys, especially that he can have one of his very own! He has been seen carrying a toy to his crate. That’s pretty amazing. A dog with Riff’s background is like a puppy learning for the first time, only it can be a bit more challenging because he has previous experiences, or lack thereof, to overcome.
Foster mom has started teaching Riff has been quickly picking up and following normal daily routines from foster mom. He is also doing very well with potty training being kept on a frequent three-to-four-hour schedule. His forever family will need to continue to work on his house training. Riff has been neutered so definitely no more offspring for this stud, and he shows no signs of any allergies. Yeah! He’s not on any special diet or medications and seems to be the picture of health!
Riff could do well in any type of home or apartment as long as his people are patient, loving and available to take him out for potty breaks every three or four hours. He currently lives with two like-size resident dogs and has done well with kids ages ten and older. Riff needs continued positive reinforcement that he is finally safe. Ideally, Riff should have a family who will continue to work with him on “basic life” training so he is successfully set up to become the well-behaved and well-rounded Frenchie we know he can be.
Here are a few words from Riff’s foster Mom, “Riff, came to my home not knowing very much about the outside world. He is a sweet boy who is learning about the life of a dog. Riff has come a long way. Riff would love to have you fill out an application. If chosen to be Riff’s forever family, map your driving course to the Balitmore/Washington metro area because Riff is too big to fly. Short car travel will be no problem for Riff and a longer ride may potentially work. Just be forewarned, Riff did become car sick on his initial two-hour trip to his foster home but has been fine on shorter rides since his arrival. Riff thanks you for reading about his amazing progress and really hopes he can show his new family how far he has come and what potential he still can reach.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations and we do not set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
