“Rip has been an easy fit in his foster home. He listens and learns fast, and is also very food motivated. He will be missed as he is sweet and so funny. He has such great expressions and wrinkles on his forehead when you talk to him. He does love to be with us and is used to sleeping in bed. He is very much a Velcro guy and should have the ability to hang with his family as much as possible.”

Story
Rip is ripping onto the available page! This handsome fella found himself in FBRN care after his previous family’s circumstances changed, and they could no longer care for him. Now he’s ready for his forever family and we are thrilled to help him find them.
Personality-wise, Rip is a sweetheart who is a happy little couch potato. He loves sitting in his “work” bed while foster mom works from home. He occasionally needs to do some zoomies to burn off energy, but his bursts of energy are short. Rip really just wants to be with his people, wherever that is!
Rip has a high prey drive for the birds and squirrels he sees in the yard, hence the “no cat” recommendation in the information box above. Rip became fast friends with his Frenchie foster siblings and they eat and play together without issue. He can be a little piggy, however, and push the others away from their dishes if given the chance. His foster family monitors feeding time closely to make sure everyone gets their fair share. Rip is food motivated and he’s learned to “sit” and “wait”. He also goes right into his crate when bribed with a bark pop. His foster mom hasn’t found a toy that he can’t promptly destroy, and we recommend crating him when you must leave the home since he is likely to chew on inappropriate things. Of course, Rip would much rather be with his people, so someone who doesn’t have to leave him crated would be ideal.
Health-wise, Rip is in great, albeit large shape. At 36 pounds, Rip is a handful and then some! He has no known allergies and is not on any special diet, but he does have a brachycephalic airway. While no action is needed at this time, his breathing should be closely monitored. Especially in warm weather, he should be watched closely and not allowed to overexert himself.
Rip is house broken and travels well. Once he got used to the schedule with his foster family there have been no accidents at all. Rip signals that he needs to go out, but his signals are subtle so his adoptive family might need to keep a close eye at first.
Overall, Rip could thrive in a home with a single person, a couple, or family with older kids who would provide him with all the attention that he deserves. At 36 pounds, younger children could get bowled over so we’re looking for kiddos ages 8+ please. Given Rip’s personality, we think he’d do great going to work with his family member. He’s also very good at sleeping by foster mom’s desk as she works from home! Like most dogs, Rip would do better if he were not alone for long periods each day. However, he’d be happy in an apartment or a house as long as he got to spend ample time with his people. A yard to play in would be nice, but daily walks would also be a-okay with Rip.
Here’s what Rip’s foster family has to say, “Rip has been an easy fit in his foster home.
If you think Rip is a match for your family, please complete an application and tell us more! Then get ready to travel Southern Minnesota as FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, and adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations and we do not set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
