“When we first brought Rosy home, it was clear that she hadn’t had the kind of love, kindness, and affection that she so deserved. She shook like a leaf for the first few days and would “pancake” the second that she saw anyone new. We have seen the most wonderful, loving, confident, and sweet dog emerge. She is an amazing companion and loves nothing better than sitting by my side while I do my work, walking in the neighborhood and discovering new sights and smells, playing with her toys (and all of them at once, generally), and learning new tricks. She has learned about so many amazing things in her new world and loves banana, blueberry, and watermelon, walking in the park, greeting new people (she is working on “down” and is mostly mastering it!), and getting into Frenchie mischief. She hasn’t met a shoe she doesn’t like to carry around with her. The best feeling in the world is sitting on the couch with her while she sidles a little bit closer, puts her head on our lap, and looks up at us with her sweet, big brown eyes. We are so happy to have been able to provide a safe place for her to come out of her shell and are so very excited for wonderful Rosy to find her forever home.”

Story
Everything’s coming up roses for Rosanne, Rosy for short, ever since she made her way into FBRN’s safe haven from a commercial breeder. She has truly flourished in her loving and structured foster home; so much so, she’s made her way onto the available page in no time at all!
Initially, Rosy was afraid of most things and knew nothing about the virtues of being a companion animal. With the help of her foster family, she has been developing confidence to face the whole wide world! Rosy has learned a lot from observing and copying her foster Frenchie sibling. Good job! She now plays with toys, eliminates on a schedule, walks on a leash and hangs with the family. She is still learning to be patient and share the spotlight when it’s not on her, but there are no signs of resource guarding or aggression. While Rosanne has acclimated beautifully to a home environment, she does have some anxiety and excitement in new situations. When meeting new people, she jumps, or shall we say leaps, onto them. Knowing her history, can we blame her? Foster mom has been working with her on “down” to help curb this behavior, but Rosanne’s impulses still get the better of her sometimes. Due to this tendency to overexcite, a home with no children or older, sturdier children would be best. Rosanne truly loves people and wants nothing more than to sit on a lap and watch television.
Upon arrival, Rosanne presented with pretty severe skin allergies which have since cleared up with medicated chlorhexidine baths. She is also currently being treated with antibiotics for an infected tail pocket. Adopters should be committed to watching for recurrence of skin issues or infections and treating as necessary. Other than skin allergies, Rosy seems to have escaped some of the more severe ailments that sometimes plague the breed. But one thing that didn’t skip over this little one is the famous Frenchie mischief. She has been known to routinely take out every single toy in her toy box, find unattended shoes upon which to chew, and tear through books and mail if left unattended. Her new family should be willing to put away all things they want kept intact as to prevent any temptation for Rosy’s natural curiosity. She loves plush squeaky toys, so those can be fair game!
Rosanne absolutely loves to be in the backyard and watch kids, dogs, and the general world go by, so a fenced yard would be ideal. If a fenced yard is not in her future, she could be content with several walks a day as to not miss her sunshine allotment. Aside from Rosy’s overexcitement when meeting new people, she is a quiet, docile dog who could happily live in a house or apartment. She loves her people and can be a little clingy, so she would thrive in a home where there is someone there most of the day. And while she is most comfortable in her own predictable space, Rosanne would probably acclimate nicely to an office setting once she learns to really harness some of her excitement. Rosanne has done very well with her canine foster sibling, so integration into a household with other dogs should go well as long as introductions are slow.
While Rosanne’s past is largely unknown, her future is very bright. Her loving foster mom adores her and has this to say, “When we first brought Rosy home, it was clear that she hadn’t had the kind of love, kindness, and affection that she so deserved. She shook like a leaf for the first few days and would “pancake” the second that she saw anyone new. We have seen the most wonderful, loving, confident, and sweet dog emerge. If Rosanne sounds like she’d bloom in your household, put in an application and tell us why you’d be a good match. She is ready to continue her lifelong journey as a loved and adored companion animal and we are committed to finding that for her. She is too big to fly so plan your road trip to the Washington DC area if you are the lucky chosen one.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
