“Roy loves to be loved. He is also smart and we are required to spell out words like ‘walk’ and ‘vet’ because he knows them if spoken. Roy has made a remarkable physical recovery thanks to the Vet Team and local vet. With continued diligence, he should have a healthy life and, with love, a happy life.”

Story
If you remember, this perfect gentleman arrived in FBRN care during a storm and had to hunker down in the bath tub only hours after arriving in his foster home. Perhaps this early bonding experience and exposure to the bath tub is why he does so well during his weekly baths! RoyKent must also remain on his current diet, supplements and daily Apoquel in order to stay in tip-top shape. If he eats something he’s allergic to, he will break out in hives; so no off-menu eating allowed, no matter how effective his puppy-dog-eye tactics are. RoyKent has a history of skin infections and his forever family must keep an eagle eye out for any recurrent skin issues and get treatment if indicated.
Allergies are quite common in this favorite breed of ours and we know there is a family out there ready and willing to manage RoyKent’s routine. In exchange, he will provide faithful companionship and fill your heart with love. RoyKent gets along very well with the two resident dogs, even respectfully sharing the same doggy bed. He is as happy a camper as a camper can be and he’s content to roam around his fenced yard, especially if there is a squirrel to be chased. While RoyKent doesn’t live with children in his foster home, we think older, dog savvy children would be great in his forever home.
Roy Kent is an easy-going guy who is content with a few soft stuffies and bones, and small ice cubes, think gas-station fountain drink crushed ice, might be his favorite guilty pleasure. He deep dives into his water bowl if he discovers one in the bottom and we think TikTok needs that video! RoyKent is crate trained, happily sleeping the night away in his crate. He is also housebroken, but may submissively pee during stressful times.
While he is used to a home with a fenced yard, RoyKent isn’t too high energy and could do well in an apartment with daily walks. He’s been known to bark at unfamiliar noises so please let any wall-sharing neighbors know there might be an adjustment period as he settles in his new environment. If you have a quiet, dog-friendly office, we think Roy could acclimate. Remember he loves people and attention so a person who is home most of the time would be ideal.
Roy Kent’s foster mom says, “Roy loves to be loved. He is also smart and we are required to spell out words like ‘walk’ and ‘vet’ because he knows them if spoken. Roy has made a remarkable physical recovery thanks to the Vet Team and local vet. With continued diligence, he should have a healthy life and, with love, a happy life.”
If you are ready to provide the love and diligence for Roy to live a happy and healthy life, please fill out an application and be prepared to drive to Oklahoma City. Roy is too big to fly but loves car rides. He is looking forward to meeting his future family!
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
