“Rue is probably one of the sweetest pups we’ve ever met. Everyone who has met her has instantly fallen in love with her. I’m not sure what the first 5 months of her life was like before coming into the rescue but you can tell how grateful and happy she is and it melts our hearts. Seeing her leave on adoption day is going to be really hard but I know that she is going to thrive as long as you love her as much as she will love you. And now I’m crying typing this out, haha.”

Story
The sweetest blueberry in the FBRN patch has made her way to the Available Page. It’s Rue!
Rue was born in Hungary and shipped to the United States when she was just a wee thing. Unfortunately, she crossed the border with some parasite stowaways (Giardia, blech) which left her with what we will politely call “gastric upset.” Fearing that they could not get her GI issues under control, her owners surrendered her to FBRN. Luckily, our intrepid volunteers are undaunted by dog poop, no matter what horrifying form it might take, and Rue’s foster mom was no exception. Under her loving care, Rue was successfully treated for Giardia, and we are pleased as punch to report that she is back to perfect health.
Once her tummy was feeling better, Rue’s puppy personality began to shine. She’s a bit of a honey badger, who enjoys savaging stuffed toys that are twice her size and roughhousing with her canine foster siblings. But she’s also an absolute love, who enjoys sitting on laps and snuggling up with foster mom’s three-year-old son.
Training-wise, Rue is making great progress. She’s trying her best to go potty outside, rather than in her crate, but she sometimes forgets. Her new family will need to continue working with her on this, and should expect some accidents as she gets settled in her new digs. Rue would also be a wonderful candidate for obedience school, as she is extremely food motivated, and it would be a great chance for her to bond with her new family.
Rue is friendly, smart, and adaptable, so she’d be happy in just about any living situation. She’d definitely like a similarly-sized fur-sibling for wrestling matches, and a securely fenced yard would be great for her to get her ya-yas out. Dog-savvy kids are a definite yes! Rue currently accompanies her foster mom to work, and would gladly do so in her forever home as well. She’d also be more than happy to snuggle at your feet (or on your lap) while you work from home! Most of all, Rue needs a home where she can be with her people as much as possible, and where she will get the proper training and guidance to grow into the best version of herself.
Foster mom has fallen head over heels for darling Rue, and tells us, “Rue is probably one of the sweetest pups we’ve ever met.
Oh my, we might be getting a little misty-eyed ourselves! If you think you can give Rue the forever home that she needs and deserves, then please fill out an application to adopt and tell us why you’d be a perfect match. Just be prepared to travel—Rue is snuggled up watching the World Cup in New Hampshire, and will not be shipped.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
