Story
Ahoy Mateys! Announcing the newest arrival to the available page, SAILOR! Sailor has just christened her sea-worthy vessel, “Sailor Swift”, for its maiden voyage to Furever Home. She is just looking for a top-notch crew to help swab the deck! Sailor wants you to know that it’s true what they say “Fawns have more fun!” and she is looking for someone who can let loose while still keeping a tight ship. You see, Sailor sometimes can get a little naughty-cal when it comes to treats, toys or food. Because of this, Sailor would do best as the only one in the galley while she eats and should be closely supervised during any sea soirees. With a good Captain righting her sails, Sailor will never have to walk the plank.
Sailor was originally surrendered when seizures resulted in pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs). Thankfully the pulmonary edema has resolved and she has been seizure free while in foster care. As a precaution, she is on medication to prevent seizures, but her neurologist has advised that she can begin to wean from this medication. She has also been known to get infected skin rashes, so a good regular washing is needed to keep her skin from needing a panpan. She has been potty trained but needs someone who will let her use the head often, so she doesn’t pee on deck. Sailor is definitely seeking a 24/7 crew – she does not like manning the ship alone and will sound the alarm when she is left to her own devices. So, her fellow seafarers should not go exploring without her for very long periods of time. When Sailor’s between voyages, she would be fine with or without a yard, so long as she is given frequent walks and time outside. As long as she has her two-legged swabby’s with her, she’ll be sailing into the sunset!
Here is what the current Admiral (Foster Mom) has to say about Sailor: “Sailor is a special girl. She is super funny and very willful. She will bring joy to anyone who is lucky enough to adopt her. She is very smart and very food motivated. [S]he would be fine as a solo dog or with other dogs. She loves playing with her resident siblings.”

About Sailor
Sailor had spay surgery on 01.17.2025.
Sailor had neurogenic pulmonary edema caused by seizures. While in foster care, she has been on Keppra medication every 8 hours to prevent seizures. Her neurologist has advised she can wean from Keppra, but while she is on it, she must have her labs checked every 6 months (CBC, chemistry, drug levels) to ensure her medication is being properly tolerated and dosed. Her pulmonary edema has resolved.
Potty training is a work in progress.
Sailor is a resource guarder who requires a firm pack leader and must never be around small children. She must be monitored during feeding and when toys are present.
Sailor has a history of Staph skin infections that must be monitored for recurrence.
