Story
Samara’s health was a concern when she first arrived in FBRN care, but her thanks to the love and diligent care of her foster mom, Samara is doing well now. She has allergies, but with a routine dose of Benadryl and medicated baths, those pesky allergies are kept at bay. Since her allergies don’t seem to be food related, Samara doesn’t require a special diet.
Personality wise, Samara may be five years old, but she’s only just learning to be a dog which means there is a bit of puppy personality coming out! Samara’s foster mom describes her as one part micro-manager, one part snuggle potato, and one part gremlin! She’s adorably sassy, an incorrigible flirt, and she loves to get into mischief. She also loves to be rocked, to cuddle, and to sleep at night with her people very close.
Samara is crate trained and knows basic commands. She is potty trained, but does not signal to be let out, so her person will need to keep to a schedule to avoid accidents. As far as exercise, zoomies in the fenced yard and playing with toys inside are enough for this sweet lady. Her favorite toys are stuffed animals that crinkle! Samara also gets major exercise following her people around the house all day.
Samara is a more dominant dog who resource-guards food, people, and toys. An experienced dog owner is required, and Frenchie experience would be a huge bonus. Because Samara has a bite history (before arriving in FBRN care), she will not be placed in a home with children. Samara coexists with the very submissive dog in her foster home, but she still charges at the other dog from time to time. For Samara’s own safety, we believe it is best if she is the only dog in her forever home. Due to her high prey drive, cats and other small pets are also a no-go.
Samara’s foster mom wants you to know that “Samara is this sweet and sassy little girl. She’s had a rough time and deserves someone who will give her all of the love and patience that she needs to be a happy, confident dog. She will reward you with all of the laughs, cuddles, and sweet little kisses you could ever ask for.”
If you’re looking for a pied princess to be your constant (and only) canine companion, please submit an application for Samara and tell us why she’s your perfect girl. Samar is currently spending her leisurely days in Western New York and is a tad too large to fly, but she loves car rides. So, if you’re selected, get ready for a road trip!
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations and we do not set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
About Samara
Samara has several allergies and must remain on daily Apoquel, and have regular medicated baths.
Samara has been diagnosed with luxating patellas that are asymptomatic at this time but should be monitored in the future.
Samara is a resource guarder with a bite history prior to coming into FBRN, so she requires a firm pack leader and must never be around small children and remain an only dog. She must be monitored during feeding and when toys are present.
