“When Saoirse first arrived she was scared, unable to walk on a leash or eat out of a bowl. This sweet girl has come so far and her beautiful loving personality gets better every day. She now loves going on walks, sunbathing on the back porch, relaxing on her bed and playing with her Frenchie foster sister. Everyone that meets this little love bug instantly falls in love with her. Saoirse will not do well in a crate and she is not fully housebroken but she is trying very hard to learn.”
Saoirse has several allergies including storage mites and must remain on her current diet, Nature’s Farmacy supplements, daily Apoquel, and have regular medicated baths. She has a history of skin and ear infections that must be monitored for recurrence. Potty training is a work in progress.
We are excited to share that Saoirse (meaning freedom and pronounced “Sur-sha”) is ready to find the perfect forever home. Saoirse is a sweet love bug who enjoys being around her favorite people all day long. If you are looking for a Frenchie gal to hang out with as you go about your daily routine, she could be the one for you!
Saoirse is a former breeding dog and is very submissive. Her foster family describes her as a professional in the art of relaxation, though she does enjoy a good walk around the block to check out what the neighbors are up to. Saoirse adores other dogs and snuggles with the resident Frenchie in her foster home. In true lounge lover fashion, Saoirse also enjoys having her ears rubbed, snacking on treats, and playing with the occasional squeaky toy.
The perfect family for Saoirse would be one with previous Frenchie experience where someone is home most of the day. Saoirse would also do well with a family that included older children, other dogs, and dog savvy kitties. Since Saoirse is still working on her house training, her new owners will need to be around a lot to keep up with her potty break routine. Saoirse would do best in a home with very few stairs and a fenced in yard is ideal for potty breaks. Saoirse is very interested in squirrels and other small animals that might run across her line of site. Her new owners will have to keep an eye on her during walks to make sure she doesn’t try and run after them. Since Saoirse is submissive, her new family should also feed her separately so that she eats her food and doesn’t let other dogs eat it for her.
Saoirse is not a fan of car rides, so taking her to the office might not be easy, but once she is there with her feet on the ground she would do fine in an office setting. Since Saoirse is a former mill mama, it is preferred that she is not crated.
As far as travel goes, Saoirse is too large for air travel and is not a big fan of car rides. She has done ok on a 2 hour car trip. Her new owners will need to be prepared for car travel with lots of breaks and be able to calm her and give reassurance during the ride.
Like many Frenchie gals, Saoirse has some allergies. She takes Apoquel daily, eats a special grain free diet, and takes several supplements to manage her itchies. Her new owners will need to continue to manage her allergies for the rest of her life.
Saoirse’s foster mom has this to share about her, “When Saoirse first arrived she was scared, unable to walk on a leash or eat out of a bowl.
If you would like to adopt Saoirse, pack your bags and be prepared to travel. Saoirse is being fostered in Southwest New York and will not be shipped. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
