“Skillet is a good boy who came into the foster program through no fault of his own. He loves playing fetch the best followed by chewing on bones. He also likes tug of war and playing with soft toys some too. While he marks in the house, I got him belly bands and now that he is neutered, I think the behavior can be fixed. He does not like to eat by himself [who does?] so he will wait until you come into the room with him to eat. He is a pretty quiet boy overall, sweet without being a pest, and he will make someone a wonderful pet. We will miss him!”

Story
How many have been patiently, or not so patiently, waiting for this day? Well, the wait is over because Skillet is now available. This youngster found himself in FBRN care after his former family went through some personal changes. He has aced his time in foster care and is now ready to make his available debut.
At just a year and a half, Skillet is still all puppy but without the completely unbridled energy. He loves to play fetch but make sure he sees you throw the ball because any sneaky maneuvers throw him off his game. He gets along with cats, kids and other dogs! Skillet calls that a grand slam (technically it’s a triple threat but who’s counting?). This sweet and social boy loves to sit beside his people and follow them from room to room but he will also find a cozy spot on the floor to relax from time to time. He is crate trained although, if allowed, he prefers to cuddle up right alongside you in bed. A dog bed on the floor next to your bed is second best.
Skillet loves to play with his canine foster siblings and will share his toys, but he doesn’t like to share his food and should be fed in a secure, separate area from other dogs to prevent any issues. He is mostly housebroken but does mark in the house sometimes. In his foster home, he has been wearing belly bands and was recently neutered so this behavior may begin to diminish. Like a lot of Frenchies, Skillet has allergies. He is on a special diet and takes a daily supplement and prescription Apoquel. His adopter should be committed to continuing this regimen to keep his allergies under control.
Because Skillet loves to play fetch and run around, a fenced yard is preferred. And because Skillet is such a social pup, he’d love to have his people home with him as much as possible. He knows not everyone gets what they want all the time but he’s putting it out there. He’s not a “Velcro dog” in the true sense of the term; more like a well-worn piece of Velcro that has lost some of its stickiness. Skillet likes to be around you but can do his own thing too. He has gone to foster mom’s office a few times and done great for 3-4 hours at a time so if you’re one of the lucky ones who can bring a pup to work, try it with Skillet! Just bring a chew bone and a couple toys and get to work.
Skillet’s foster mom loves him and says, “Skillet is a good boy who came into the foster program through no fault of his own.
If Skillet checks all the boxes for what you’re looking for in a forever companion, send in your application. Skillet is too big to fly in cabin so plan your trip to coastal Florida and get ready to be Skillet’s new home! FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations and we do not set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
