Story
Are you looking for a sweet and loving pup who will follow you everywhere like a second shadow? Look no further than newly available Swizzle because you’d be hard pressed to find one sweeter, cuter or more loving. Surrendered as a former mill momma, she never knew life as a beloved pet, but is now ready to continue the lavish lifestyle she has experienced while in foster care with a new adoptive family.
Swizzle is sweet, submissive, active and loving. She enjoys shopping for (in a stroller no less!), walking and cuddling. She is a consummate “velcro” dog, sticking to you like glue. Presumably stemming from her former life, she does have anxiety and takes anti-anxiety medications. Being with her person is possibly the most important thing to her. Sure, she likes to nap, chew her antler or Himalayan yak chew and play with her canine foster brothers, but being with her human is definitely numero uno. She prefers your bed to her own, your lap to the floor and your cheese to no cheese. Who doesn’t love cheese?
Along with some anxiety, allergies are no stranger to Swizzle (and lots of Frenchies). She is on a medication, bathing and diet regimen that will need to be continued by her adoptive family. She would do best in a relatively quiet home without young kids as she doesn’t so well a lot of chaos and noise. She currently lives and plays with like-size pups. Because her behavior with cats is unknown, she will not be placed into a home with cats. Swizzle is hoping to find someone who is home all day or can take her to work with them. She does really well when foster mom takes her to the office and is quiet as a mouse. She really dislikes the crate and who can blame her! With some work and patience, she may learn it can be a safe space but until that is the case, the least amount of time alone the better. Potty training is a work in progress. She doesn’t quite know how to signal at the door yet but if you notice her wandering and circling around, best to take her outside.
This gentle gal has certainly won her foster mom’s heart. She says, “My sweet Swizzle, Swizz, Swizzy Dizzy…you have been an absolutely amazing girl to foster and this is not easy by any means! You came along and needed me as much as I think I needed you. Your future family will be sure to nurture you, cuddle you and simply adore you! You’re a true diamond in the mill dog world with your kisses, funny faces and willing to just be YOU with no exceptions.”
So while Swizzle may not know how to play with stuffies or relax in a crate – yet, she knows she’s ready to graduate from foster to forever. If you can meet, or better yet exceed, her needs, fill out an application and map your route to Pennsylvania. Not everyone can claim they have two shadows and Swizzle is giving you the opportunity to never be alone.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
