“in Norway there is a saying: Kjært barn har mange navn (meaning: a loved child has many names), and this is a spot-on description for Tommy! In our home he goes by: Tommy, Tommy-T, Thomas, Tank, M1-Abrams (a tank), Chunkmaster-3000, Bull in a China-shop, Lover-boy, Tttttttt-Tommy, Best friend, Kissy-boy, Baby-Hippo, Crop-duster and more!” Something to mention about the puppy known by many names, is that he has one of the weirdest quirks for a Frenchie. He LOVES having his nails done! That’s right, Tommy-boy will sit on your lap like a baby and let you cut his nails and then let you dremel them too! As much as he is a huge fan of the pawdicure, he is not into the full spa treatment…as he loathes bathtime.”

Story
One of FBRN’s adorable little rugrats has finally made his way to the available page….and we think that he just might be so popular, that he breaks the internet! Tommy was surrendered at just 2-months old to FBRN (along with his mom, littermate and another French bulldog) when his family fell on unfortunate times. Well, he’s now 6-months-old and ready to find his forever family!
Tommy is a happy, healthy boy and his foster family worked hard on his socialization skills, exposing him to new experiences and helping him build confidence and independence. It worked because he seems to like all dogs. He is a little careful when first meeting other dogs as he is quite submissive, but he seems to make canine friends easily. He’ll play with any dog who wants to, but strange dogs who bark loudly make him insecure and uncomfortable. He’s also shown no issues of possessiveness with toys or bones since living with his foster family so he would likely do well with a fur-sibling.
Tommy’s foster mom reports that he is simply such a lover and that his temperament is one that is laid back and polite. Wait a minute, a Frenchie with manners?! Well, for the most part. Tommy has one bad habit…which is that he loves chewing on sticks and wood in general (so coffee tables and legs are fair game in his book). Whoops! I mean, Tommy is indeed still a puppy after all, so mischievous behavior is to be expected. He has somewhat of a “Bull in a China Shop” personality when he gets excited so it’s probably best that he be in a home with children that are over 5 years of age who are able to understand that puppy energy. The last thing his new family wants is him accidentally knocking a toddler down during one of his zoomie sessions!
What’s Tommy like at home when he’s not trying to eat wooden furniture? Velcro Frenchie alert incoming! He loves cuddling next to you on the sofa and will follow you everywhere you go. He does tend to bark when he gets excited while playing, but overall he is a relatively chill puppy. Tommy would likely do best in a living situation where he could play with another dog, get frequent walks or have some playtime where he can run out his energy. A fenced in backyard would be optimal as that is what he has been used to, but he also seems like a dog that will get used to new situations fairly easily. Tommy hasn’t had to be alone at home much during the day, so he will likely need (at minimum) a midday potty break until he gets older and can hold it all day. He would even be a great office dog as he is so easygoing and friendly to strangers.
While with his foster family Tommy has become the rugrat of many names. His foster mom has this to say, “in Norway there is a saying: Kjært barn har mange navn (meaning: a loved child has many names), and this is a spot-on description for Tommy!
One thing to know about Tommy is that he does get car sick on long trips. A family who travels a lot by car or truck for weekends and vacations would probably not be a good fit. Short trips for less than 1-2 hours should be okay. His foster mom points out though, that out of all the dogs they’ve had in their care over the last 30 years…Tommy is THE BEST car-rider, hands down! He lays down in his seat, chews on a bone, and that’s it. No fuss, no barking, no trying to get out of his seat.
Do you think you are ready to invite this sweet, fun-loving puppy into your family? Are you committed to all things puppy and helping Tommy continue to grow and learn through continued socialization and training? Then don’t delay in submitting your application and tell us why your family is the best family for Tommy. If yours is selected, then get ready for a road trip to North Carolina! FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
