“Tortuga has been a wonderful foster! He is delightful, super handsome and full of charisma. He loves attention but at the same time is good on his own: a gentleman and a rascal. Story
It’s time to shell-ebrate! Word on the FBRN streets is that an awesome cream puff of a Frenchie is available and his name is Tortuga. His surrendering family could no longer give him the care he needed for some ongoing medical issues. Now, after having spent some valuable time in foster care and starting a solid regimen, Tortuga is ready to start accepting applications. Shell yeah!
Tortuga is a minor shell-ebrity among these parts as his fun personality has really shone in his foster home. He has proven to be the perfect mix of happy camper and mischief maker. He loves playing with toys and is sure to destroy his squeakies and stuffies. He adores lounging in soft spots, sun beams for extra credit please, but please don’t ask him to move after he has settled on his bed, thank you very much. He is a dream on a leash and loves to play, chase and tussle with his canine foster brother. If you’ll allow and have the time, he’ll cuddle with you all day. He also likes to find and chew that plastic bottle cap you accidentally kicked under the coffee table (insert any other small items you may not want your pup to chew on and ingest) so make sure all of those things are out of reach.
What would a Frenchie be if not a little naughty? Tortuga needs an owner who is prepared to manage his resource guarding tendencies, especially around his food bowl and bed. He has shown a couple specific handling sensitives, which his new owner just needs to be aware of for any future situations like taking a cone off and putting it back on and clipping his nails. Due to his history of bites, he cannot go to a family with any young kids, but older, dog-savvy children could be considered.
Tortuga is crate trained and house broken. He could be brought to the office or have a midday break if left at home. He knows “sit” and “off” and is ready to learn even more with his new family. If you have prior experience with a dog with allergies, that will be a huge bonus so be sure to mention that in your application. He is currently on daily Apoquel, a poultry-free diet and regular medicated baths which keep the itchies at bay. He also has a history of chronic eye ulcers impairing his vision so his two twice daily ointments need to be continued. At just 3.5 years old, Tortuga needs a special family dedicated to this lifelong regimen.
This special guy’s foster family wants you to know, “Tortuga has been a wonderful foster! He is delightful, super handsome and full of charisma. He loves attention but at the same time is good on his own: a gentleman and a rascal. He knows how to jump (and most turtles don’t)! He is going to make someone very, very happy and you can tell he is the kind of dog that will change your life. He is someone’s soulmate dog.”
Are you ready for your life to be changed – for the better? Tortuga is too big to fly and too slow to walk but he loves car rides so pack the car and head to California. He is turtely awesome and ready to start the next chapter of his new life so get that application in!
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
