“Toussaint or ‘TT’ is the Brad Pitt of French Bulldogs! He will win you over with his shiny coat, perfectly straight teeth, muscular build, and loving stare. He is a clown and always on the go! That said, he is also a big snuggler. Toussaint needs an experienced Frenchie/dog owner who can continue his obedience training and keep an eye on his high-energy antics to give the proper timed corrections. He will do anything for treats and is easy to train. I affectionately call him “TT” the annoying little brother because he will play until he zonks out, ankle bite, steal toys when other dogs are not looking, and do anything to get other dogs to wrestle with him. That said, it can be annoying at times because he sometimes doesn’t know when to stop and doesn’t get the message from other dogs who don’t want to play. That is why he needs a vigilant owner to keep him in-bounds and to channel his gamesmanship in the proper manner. He is an absolute doll! Once you earn his trust, he won’t leave your side.”

Story
Get ready for a dash of cuteness as Toussaint has made his way onto the available page! Toussaint was discovered hiding in a ditch on the side of a Florida road. We can’t even begin to guess how he ended up there, but his hard luck took a turn for the better when he was picked up by the local animal shelter. The shelter turned Toussaint over to FBRN, and we couldn’t have been happier to take him in.
Tell you more you ask? Toussaint is an extremely active guy. He loves to run and rough house play with the other dogs at his foster home. Sometimes his inner thief might get the best of him when playing and he will steal toys from the other dogs. Even though Toussaint is really outgoing, he will ultimately submit. He is smart and eager to learn – he sits well on command and will wait until he is told to start eating. Like most Frenchies, he is HIGHLY motivated by treats. He could use some work on his leash manners. He has learned to stop biting his leash, but he still believes he should be a sled dog and pulls.
Toussaint does well with the cats, dogs, and the child in his foster home. While he was at the shelter it was noted that he tried to growl at them when they were trying to check out his little teeth. During his time in foster care, his foster mom has worked extensively with him to cooperate in this area. He has never bitten her or anyone in the foster home and will let his foster momma check out his ears, teeth, eyes and paws without any issues. He is still leery of the vet and will need his new vet to take it slow when examining him.
On the health side, Toussaint has a mostly clean bill of health. He has a prolapsed eyelid that will periodically require someone to massage it back into place. He may need eye drops, wipes, or medication to help with his eye health as he gets older. While in foster care, he was treated for Giardia so any waste should be cleaned up and thrown away to avoid it from being gobbled up.
Toussaint tends to barks a lot and gets overly excited if left behind a fence. For this reason, if his forever home has a fence where a lot of people pass by, he should be monitored and given the proper correction if he gets too excited. His potty training is also a work in progress and he needs to be taken out regularly. He is crate trained and will not have accidents or cry/bark in his crate. Due to his high energy level and his medical needs, Toussaint would benefit from an owner that has French bulldog experience. He would be best suited for a family that had other dogs that would not be annoyed by his high energy level and consistent desire to play. A home with older children would be better for Toussaint, due to his energy level and his need for obedience training. Toussaint needs a house with a yard to help burn off some of his energy.
Toussaint’s foster mom had this to say about him: “Toussaint or ‘TT’ is the Brad Pitt of French Bulldogs! If you think you have the perfect home for Toussaint, all you need to do is apply to adopt him and be ready to pick him up should you be selected as his forever home. He is too large to fly so please be prepared for a road trip with a handsome companion.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
