“Uno has a ton of love to give and is truly a great dog. He may have a lifetime of ongoing skin flare-ups but that’s not his fault. He’s a good, handsome boy!”
Uno has several allergies, including storage mites, and must remain on his current diet, Nature’s Farmacy supplements, Omega-3 Pet supplements, daily Apoquel, and have regular medicated baths. He has a history of skin infections, including drug resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Proteus mirabilis, that must be monitored for recurrence. Uno also has a history of eye, ear, and urinary tract infections.
Uno has exhibited some rebellious behaviors that will require continued training to address. A slow intro is required if there are other dogs in the home.
Are you looking for a lovable rambunctious teenage Frenchie? If so, Uno is the boy for you! This sweet, three-year-old boy is ready to find his forever family. Uno spends his days playing with his foster fur-siblings and soaking up sun rays. He loves chewing on antlers and bones; but since he’s an aggressive chewer, he should be supervised with chew toys. Uno likes to cuddle and be with his people. He is an adventurous boy who will actually climb up on the counter or table if allowed!
Unfortunately, Uno has a history of medical issues. He has significant environmental skin allergies and is prone to secondary bacterial skin infections which will require life-long monitoring and maintenance. Due to these conditions, Uno will need to have his paws cared for daily or weekly depending on his living situation. He will require a special raw diet and continue taking daily medication and supplements.
Uno is a very smart boy! He knows both the hand and vocal signals for sit, down, off, and stay. He is very motivated by treats; and like most Frenchies, he is very stubborn! Uno can be very vocal which can escalate to him “talking back” to his foster parents. His forever family will need to set boundaries and continue with formal training. Uno is not great when encountering dogs when walking. His foster family has been working on correcting this behavior and Uno will benefit from continued training.
Uno deserves the perfect forever family. He would do best in a family where someone can be home with him at least half the day. Since he enjoys climbing, he should be crated when his family isn’t home. Due to his overwhelming excitement when he encounters other dogs (and sometimes people), Uno might not be the best pup to take to the office. Unless you have an office where there are no other pets or people! Uno’s forever family must be committed to the continued maintenance and extra care required, especially if he’s having an allergy flare-up. Daily monitoring of his coat/paws/skin is needed.
Uno would do well in an apartment or house. He’s more of a more of a ‘sunbathing on the deck’ rather than a ‘hanging in the yard’ kind of guy and that’s probably best since he has so many environmental/outdoor allergies! However, if his forever home does have an accessible yard, it will have to be fenced.
Foster mom has this to say about him: “Uno has a ton of love to give and is truly a great dog. He may have a lifetime of ongoing skin flare-ups but that’s not his fault. He’s a good, handsome boy!”
If you think your family is the perfect fit for Uno, please submit an application and tell us why! Then get ready to travel because FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
