Story
FBRN’s pint-sized bundle of energy has made her way to the available page. That’s right, Winnie is ready to bounce her foster home and head on over to her forever one! Winnie came to FBRN when her loving family realized that between young kids, job changes, and health issues, they could not give her the time and training she deserved.
This little bundle of energy is pure joy and happy go lucky, but due to her age and energy level she needs a lot of activity to keep from getting into trouble. Winnie is all puppy, all the time, moving at 10,000 miles per hour, wrestling every toy in sight and zooming around the house. She’s equal parts chaos and cuteness, bouncing between play mode and nap mode at record speed. When she finally crashes, her favorite spot is snoozing on her foster mom’s lap.
Winnie doesn’t really have many dislikes, but she sure has lots of likes. Squeaky toys? Obsessed…and she will spend hours a day playing fetch with anything that squeaks. Snuggles? Yes, please! Food? She’ll take two of whatever you’re having. While Winnie is young and spirited, she has learned commands relatively quickly. In fact, she’s already figured out that going potty outside = treats…and she is very committed to that reward system.
Winnie loves to be around humans. She especially loves the teenage son of her foster mom. However, she is still a mouthy, jumpy, wild puppy so she shouldn’t be around young children, as we don’t want the little ones accidently getting hurt. She also needs a home with someone who is not gone longer than a few hours during the day, as she is still potty training. She hasn’t yet learned to not potty in the crate and she also loathes being alone. Winnie is not afraid to be vocal when left alone in her crate. This means that apartment life may not be in the cards for her. What’s most important is that Winnie have lots of opportunity for exercise, and while a fenced yard isn’t mandatory, it sure would offer her the space to run off her energy. A tired dog is a good dog!
Want to know what would make Winnie extra happy? To live with a small dog companion of a similar energy level, or even one slightly older to show her the ropes. She has demonstrated that she really enjoys playing with smaller dogs, more so than larger dogs. As far as cats go, well she hasn’t exactly met one yet. However, she hasn’t shown any signs of a strong prey drive, but there’s still a high probability that she might annoy a cat with her puppy antics so for that reason, homes with a cat are a no.
As she grows, she will need a family ready to guide her through all the important puppy lessons – like where to potty, what not to chew, and that humans do, in fact, need personal space (sometimes). At this point Winnie is too young and curious to be a great coworker in an office setting. When she is out and about, she wants to explore everyone and everything she sees and hears. This would be challenging for someone to manage while in an office setting, (as well as the current need for frequent potty breaks). Who knows what the future holds though. Down the line she may make a great office companion, given her penchant for being around humans.
Winnie’s foster mom has this to say about her, “Winnie is a beautiful, affectionate pup with a sparkling personality to match her stunning looks. She’s young, full of energy, and absolutely adores people. Whether it’s a game of fetch or curling up by your side, she’s happiest when she’s with her human. Her curiosity and mischievous antics provide endless laughs that can brighten the worst of days.”
