”From the moment you meet him, the little fella with a huge personality will melt your heart. The enthusiasm with which Zekel approaches life is infectious. He has strong positive energy. Zeke is a little clown, and makes us laugh even when he misbehaves. He makes the most endearing squeaky sounds when he is asking to be let out or needs help to get onto a bed. Whether he is doing zoomies, playing with his sister, or snoozing in your arms, your day will be brighter because of him. Zeke is friendly, happy, brave, stubborn intelligent, goofy, and loving puppy. A huge piece of our hearts will stay with him forever.”
Zekel has several allergies and must remain on regular Cytopoint shots, Nature’s Farmacy supplements, Nordic Naturals Omega-3 Pet supplements, Optix-cure eye lube, allergy eye drops, and have regular medicated baths.
Zekel has displayed signs of urinary incontinence and may need a belly band due to excitement urination and loose bladder control. He has a history of cystine bladder stones and had surgery before coming to FBRN which must be monitored for recurrence.
Zekel has zoomed his way over to the available page! This one-year-old boy was sadly surrendered after his parents became overwhelmed by his health issues. Zekel has a history of cystine bladder stones and had surgery before coming into rescue. It’s possible these stones will reoccur and his forever family will need to monitor him for this.
Zekel is brave, smart, and loving. He also breaks out his silliness and makes everyone laugh, even when he’s being naughty! When he’s not melting hearts, he’s melting into your lap to catch a snooze.
Zekel has food and environmental allergies that are well managed with diet and medication. He gets monthly Cytopoint shots and uses eye drops during allergy season. Regular baths, wipes, and protective shirts help with his allergies as well. Zekel is nearly house trained and can sleep through the night without any accidents. During the day, however, he needs frequent potty breaks. He will let you know when he has to go outside, but can’t always hold it.
Like any puppy, Zekel loves to play! One of his favorite things to do is play with his foster sister. He also loves going for walks and meeting new people. He usually plays well with other dogs at the park; and while he may be small, he is fearless and will approach dogs of any size! Did we mention he loves to play? Zekel is still very young and would benefit from working with a trainer to learn new skills and improve his manners (especially his leash manners).
Zekel isn’t a fan of being left alone and breaks out his yodeling skills when he’s scared or upset. Foster mom reports that when he’s left home with his foster sibling, he does much better. A doggie sibling would be fantastic in Zekel’s forever home!
Because of his prey drive, Zekel needs a home without cats, birds or any other small animals. He also shouldn’t be placed in a home with younger children or a family who plans to have children. His prey drive makes all things around him that move very exciting, so he will chase them barking and nipping. This is another area where training would be beneficial.
Someone who works from home would be ideal. Not only because Zekel loves being with his people, but also because he needs frequent potty breaks. In a suburban setting, Zekel would do best in a home with a fenced yard where he can be closely monitored while outside. Zekel is quite determined and likes to nibble on all things he comes across in the backyard, including things that could be poisonous!
Here are a few words from his foster mom, “From the moment you meet him, the little fella with a huge personality will melt your heart. The enthusiasm with which Zekel approaches life is infectious. If Zekel sounds like a fit for your home, send over an application! Because he’s small, he can fly in a cabin. He’s also a fan of car rides! FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
