“Statesman came to us with a love and desire to be around our younger kids. He has a real connection with his humans and greets and bonds so calmly with everyone. He is an easy rider. He is fine to travel or fine to hang at the house on his pillow. He puts himself to bed in the crate each night. He has been a true delight and our family will hate to see him go. We pray he will find someone who includes him in all they do as he loves to be a part of the family. If you are looking for a proper love bug, this is your guy.”

Story
Regal of bearing and smooshy of face, this honorable gentleman now graces the Available Page with his presence. It’s Statesman!
Statesman came to FBRN under sad circumstances, and was loved and well cared for by his previous owners. It’s no surprise, then, that he’s been a perfect gentleman since his arrival in foster care. Potty trained? Check. Crate trained? Check. Basic obedience? Check!
At three years old, this handsome brindle boy is the perfect mix of playful and chill. He loves car rides, walks, and playing fetch with his beloved Frisbee, but is also content to loaf around the house and snooze for an hour or five. Statesman isn’t a needy dog, but he loves human attention, and has formed an especially close bond with the children in his foster family.
Healthwise, Statesman suffers from those dreaded Frenchie allergies, but they’re kept under control with weekly medicated baths and a diet free of turkey and chicken. Statesman also has a history of recurring ear infections, so his new family should pay special attention to those soft pointy ears and get him to the vet ASAP if he shows signs of discomfort.
Statesman’s only fault is that, like many politicians, he can be a bit mouthy. He isn’t destructive to furniture or household items, but he can disembowel a stuffy at lightning speed, and he nips occasionally during play. So while Statesman would love some human children of his very own, it’s important that any resident kids are dog savvy, and know not to leave their own stuffed animals anywhere Statesman might get a paw on them.
Statesman isn’t fussy about his forever home, so long as it has toys to play with and people to love on. He’ll accompany you to the office and be the cutest assistant ever, or he’ll warm your feet while you WFH, or he’ll patiently wait at home while you work the daily grind (with a mid-day potty break, of course). He would love a securely fenced yard to romp about in, but he’d also be happy in an apartment so long as he gets regular outdoor exercise. He’s not a barker (or a yodeler), so you don’t need to worry about him disturbing the neighbors. Statesman adores children and would be an amazing family pet, but he’d also be happy as the one and only baby in the house. And as a fairly mellow, non-dominant type, Statesman would enjoy a similarly mannered canine companion, but would be equally content as the king of all he surveys. Like we said, not fussy! (Unfortunately, as he has not been exposed to cats, we have to say no to kitties.)
Statesman’s campaign manager/foster mom has this to say: “Statesman came to us with a love and desire to be around our younger kids.
Well, he’s got our vote! If you’ve got a vacant seat for our handsome Statesman, then fill out a ballot (er, application) and tell us why you’d be a perfect match. Just be prepared to travel, as Statesman is playing Frisbee on the southern coast of Texas and will not be shipped.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
