Give a warm welcome to our newest little cow dog, Zara! Gorgeous Zara made her way to FBRN after a breeder found her abandoned on her property. Zara is estimated to be about 2 years old and has a beautiful soft coat.
Zara appears to be in pretty good health aside from her discolored paws and some dry skin on the edges of her ears. She does have difficulty breathing after prolonged exercise and will likely need airway surgery. Currently, she has a very low tolerance for play and warm temperatures, and she takes an extended time to cool down.
So far, Zara’s foster family says she has been a dream! She is a total love bug with everyone she meets and she absolutely adores children. The 4-year-old child in her foster home reads books to Zara while she’s in her crate, and Zara follows along with every page turn!
Sadly, Zara was not potty trained at all when she arrived in her foster home. She’s made great progress over the past two weeks with a consistent schedule and lots of praise and treats for her successes! Zara is a very smart girl who is quickly learning to follow the rules of her foster home. She still has plenty of puppy energy and will nibble on fingers during play when she is really excited.
Zara is crate trained and hangs out quietly in her crate when needed during the day. She also sleeps in her crate though the night without a peep. She is calm and quiet during that day while her foster dad is working in his home office as well. Could this little girl get more perfect?!
Zara will be visiting our vet very soon for a check-up. Once she is given the thumbs up and a clean bill of health, she will be heading on over to the available page!
